The Challenge: A Struggle for Farmers in Uttarakhand
Farming in the hilly terrains of Uttarakhand has always been a challenging endeavor. With steep slopes, difficult access to modern ploughing machinery, and high maintenance costs, small and marginal farmers often face an uphill battle—literally. According to documented data from 2017, around 2.26 lakh farmers migrated from the hilly regions due to these hardships.
The primary challenges faced by these farmers include:
- Cultivation difficulty due to step farming
- High costs and inefficiency of plain-region ploughing machinery
- Expensive fuel and frequent maintenance requirements
- Lack of sustainable income, forcing migration in search of livelihood
Recognizing these pressing issues, we embarked on a mission to create a revolutionary solution tailored to the needs of hilly-region farmers.
Our Product Range
We offer two types of ploughing tools designed to meet diverse farming needs:
Manual Ploughing Tool
Automatic Ploughing Tool
A New Age Ploughing Tool
Our vision was simple: develop a ploughing tool that is affordable, fuel-free, maintenance-free, and easy to operate. This tool is specifically designed for small and micro-farms, offering higher working efficiency and reduced wear and tear compared to traditional tools, making it ideal for hilly and tribal terrains.
Our Journey
With these objectives in mind, we began developing our proof of concept. Within 2-3 months, we successfully created a prototype that could be tested in real farming conditions, providing us with valuable insights into its functionality and effectiveness.
Now, with the support of IIM Kashipur and the Government of India, we are even more committed to refining our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and making it available to farmers in need as soon as possible.
Who Will Benefit?
Our innovative ploughing tool is aimed at small and marginal farmers across hilly regions of India. The potential beneficiaries include :
Uttarakhand
Over 15 lakh farmers can benefit from this innovation.
Other Hilly Regions
Extending beyond Uttarakhand, the tool can assist 1.12 crore rural cultivators across 11 states, including:
- North East India
- Jammu & Kashmir
- Himachal Pradesh
- Other hilly terrains with independent farmers (Male & Female)
This tool is designed to empower farmers by reducing labor intensity, increasing productivity, and ultimately improving their livelihoods.
